20/20 Segment

It has come to my attention that I know three types of people. Those who:

1. Fall asleep extremely early on Friday night and thus miss the 20/20 TV show they’ve been anticipating for weeks.

2. Have no idea how to use their Tivo and/or VCR.

3. Really don’t want to watch me on TV and therefore lapse into passive-aggressive mode … “Oh, I wanted to watch, but I got a phone call.” … “Oh, I wanted to watch, but the dog needed to be groomed right then.” … “Oh, I wanted to watch, but I went into labor.” Pfftt.

Well, the joke’s on all three of you because here it is ”” our segment of the 20/20 show broadcast October 17, 2008. HA!

Read the history of all this then tell me what you think!

  1. And #4: Those who watched it, assumed you had been bumped by the dreadful economy & campaign, still flipped back to 20/20 to be on the safe side & yet missed your segment entirely. Argh!

  2. Does that make you a flippin’ goober? Or a flip flopper?

I’m curious … what could possibly be on Friday night television that you’d find more compelling than eight minutes on campaign finance reform?! See if I ever fight for YOUR free speech rights again!

Aww, who am I kidding …

  3. The fishing was great all weekend!
Thanks for letting me see what I missed without having to bother with fast forward and backing up and finding your little piece on that great big show!

  4. OK, so I am not even going to tell you which group I fit in, but do want to thank you for posting it here, so I can see it. I love that they handed those 3 the paperwork to fill out! That was enjoyable! As was seeing which part of your footage they used – go non-wet paint!

  5. Beckster, you were, as always, highly articulate. I liked your outfit, too. Oh, and the issue? Man, that bites. The biggest problem is the way all that legalese cuts us regular people off from the political process.

  6. The front yard we know so well from hours of pruning irises got onto national television! How freakin’ cool is that?!? Oh, and you all were very articulate … how funny that they taped so much footage and only used a few clips!

  7. Apparently, Jessie, you didn’t do nearly enough yard work because I believe that was Karen’s yard they showed. Unless you’ve secretly been doing her gardening.

Thanks, everyone for watching and saying nice things. It was quite an experience, but I’m glad it’s over. Mostly over.

It is funny how much footage they shot versus how much they actually used. Plus, I think they must have been editing right up to the very end because the transcript on the 20/20 website was different than what was actually shown.
