Happy Birthday, Dr Seuss!

Today is “Read Across America” day, honoring the birthday of Dr. Seuss. I wonder if there’s a kid who has never had the opportunity to hear a Dr Seuss story. If you find one, you know what to do.

We’ve all been touched by the phenomenal Dr Seuss. In fact, when my son was in boot camp he made reference to The Waiting Place from “The Places You’ll Go.” His friend was flummoxed and had no idea what he was talking about. He asked us to send him a copy so he could read it to him.

Yes. Yes, we did.

But because I can’t read to you today, I’m going to take you to Seussville so you can play in the playground. Beware of Sneetches.

The Grinch Grow Your Heart game was hard but I redeemed myself playing One Fish Two Fish Concentration.

These are a few of my favorite Seussisms …

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!

So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.

Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.

What’s your favorite Seussism?
